Successfully installed with a little bit of a snag but nothing too bad. Enjoy and ask me any questions you may have.
Thanks for the great video!
Really sorry about the broken part. Seems that one was a little too tight. We are going to adjust that adapter for the next batch so its not quite so tight. To remove it, I’m sure you can just get a left hand EZ-Out and it will come out very easily. BTW, WD-40 is not the best for this. Normal oil or better yet, a heavy grease is best.
All good, no apology needed. I bought two modules so I can always steal parts.
It was a XT Derailleur from 2015 so not a big deal. I also failed to mention the lock nut in the video. I am thinking in the future maybe mount the wireless shift module to the frame somewhere [like on the chain stay or seat stay] and run a short length of cable to the derailleur. This way it can be mounted in a safer location. I will ride the bike hopefully tomorrow or teusday to see how it does and do some follow up videos if I have the time.
We are releasing a very nice frame mount soon. It will use a small, 3mm diameter Bowden cable. So visually, its going to look very similar to Di2. The direct mount is ideal for road bike, but not great for MTB and definitely not downhill.
Do you have an estimated timeline for the frame mount? If it’s by early spring I may hold off on installing and wait for it.
