As part of the BikeNet 2.0 release, we have also made extensive improvements and upgrades to the shifting devices. For now, most of these improvements are only available to 2.0 Beta testers.
We’ve made a surprisingly large number of improvements to the NXS firmware over the past few weeks. Both the Android and iOS apps are now ready for testing, and the firmware has received a major round of new features and reliability work.
Some highlights:

Added ANT+ support, including drivetrain status and battery information for compatible bike computers.

Added support for ANT+ speed, cadence, heart-rate, power, and combined speed/cadence sensors.

Added ANT+ bike-light pairing, status, battery information, and light controls.

Added obstruction detection to stop the motor when the drivetrain is blocked or under abnormal load.

Added adjustable obstruction sensitivity and improved filtering to avoid false detections.

Added automatic recovery after an obstruction whenever it is safe to return to the previous gear.

Added clearer low-battery warnings and protection against shifting when the battery is too low.

Added motor-overuse protection to prevent overheating or damage during excessive repeated operation.

Added a configurable starting gear for multishifts.

Added the option to disable overshift completely.

Improved single-shift, multishift, continuous-shift, and synchronized-shift behavior.

Improved homing and position tracking to reduce the chance of losing the derailleur’s position.

Made pairing and factory-reset confirmation safer and easier to understand.

Improved Bluetooth reliability, particularly when connecting with iPhones.

Improved firmware-update safety and recovery.

Added much better internal diagnostics so connection problems, failed shifts, obstructions, battery issues, and other faults are easier for us to troubleshoot.
There has been a lot of work behind the scenes as well, especially around making shifting, position storage, Bluetooth communication, and fault recovery more dependable.
We’ll be testing all of this thoroughly before the public release, but it’s a substantial step forward for NXS+.
